2011年3月16日，美國空軍MC-130H“戰鬥禽爪II”特種作戰機在機場癱瘓、跑道損害嚴重且被冰雪
覆蓋下降落仙台機場。這架MC-130H是地震和海嘯後降落在日本仙台機場第一架定翼機，隨機來
自沖繩嘉手納空軍基地駐日美軍第320特戰中隊和日本緊急情況處置隊一起清理跑道並恢復機場塔
臺運作。降落的MC-130H“戰鬥禽爪II”特種作戰飛機並非普通C-130大力神運輸機。MC-130H是美
軍氣象偵察機，特殊情況時可偵測大氣核輻射量。
